Head of Software Development - Exeter - £70,000 - £85,000 
OPUS has partnered with a fast-growing business manufacturing firm who are looking to hire a Head of Software Development thanks to internal growth and promotion. It's a really exciting time to join the business who are consolidating their existing team and practices and increase work with their global team. With offices in Australia, the UK, the US and Europe, it's a great opportunity to be at the forefront of creative and cloud transformation with a global and foreward thinking company. 
Within the role, you'll be helping to set the strategic direction for the firm, ensuring that IT and IT best practices align with the global business goals, helping to evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to the firm's advantage, and handle all day-to-day software development activities within the team of 5 that you will take over. 

Key objectives within the role:
  • Lead, mentor and help development the internal development team 
  • Handle all key activities within the development and support functions 
  • Oversee training and development of key skills within the team 
  • Work with key business stakeholders to deliver on projects and prioritise strategic business needs 
  • Ensure timely project delivery, managing risks, and helping to ensure continued quality
  • Oversee and help implement the company's cloud migration project planned for H1 next year 
  • Help with migration from waterfall to agile within the firm and implement best Software Development practices 
Key skills desired:
  • People skills - ability to lead and influence a team with demonstrable experience in this area or demonstrable mentoring experience 
  • C#/.net - good hands-on technical experience and an ability to read code / code reviews and define best practices 
  • Azure / DevOps / CI/CD - key experience in this area and undertaking on-prem to cloud based transformations 
  • Microsoft Dynamics - an understanding of CE/CRM or BC/Navision is beneficial when it comes to wider collaboration
